About Toptots
The Toptots program has the full support of pediatricians, occupational therapists and speech therapists who regularly promote Toptots to the children that they work with. Based on this, the support from our existing members and the performance of Toptots children at pre-school and school level, we believe that we really do make a difference.
Toptots is a preventative program.
Whilst we cannot guarantee that your child will not develop difficulties later on, we can do as much as possible to ensure that all areas of development are well taken care of. Our activities are designed in such a way that we can see the bigger picture. We look at the development of the child from birth through to preschool and, understanding what the child is capable of achieving at their age level, we provide the tools to stimulate all areas of your little one's development. Our activities are designed according to the specific needs and age level of the child. For this reason, we like to keep our age groupings as close as possible.
Your child has special gifts. We help you find those gifts that will help set your child on the road to success with love. These early years that your child has with you are the most important years of their life. At Toptots, we help your child to reach their full potential in order to get a head start in life. Our program is designed in such a way that at the end of a four-year period, your child will have covered every aspect of school readiness appropriate for this age.
Age specific classes
You attend a class once a week for 1 hour at a time, always with the same group of parents and children. Our activities are explained to you in each session in such a way that you can then work with your child on a one-to-one basis, making you your child's first and most important teacher. As a parent, you will learn new and interesting facts on development that you will not always find in a book. You will become familiar with new terminology and skills that will keep you abreast of the education system. Our weekly activities cover every area of development, with an emphasis on fine motor, gross motor, intellectual, emotional and social development. We ensure the development of well-rounded individuals.
Learning with an emphasis on FUN!
Sensory play and exploring different textures plays a vital role in the development of the child and we ensure that we include this in our weekly classes. There are numerous benefits associated with sensory play. Sensory integration can enhance your child's intellectual, social and emotional performance. At Toptots, don't be surprised to see us digging for dinosaurs in a tub of rice, bubbles, feathers or jelly!
We are not afraid of making a mess, so be prepared to get a bit grubby from time to time. We believe in spontaneous creativity and allow your child the freedom of painting with different mediums, exploring textured paint and many more fascinating creative ideas. This is an essential element that many parents do not have the time or energy for at home. For this reason, we make it a special part of your class time.
Because our program is based on perceptual development, you should not expect to see an overwhelming reaction from your baby in the first few months. At this age, most of the activities that your child will be involved in, are designed to develop and strengthen areas which are not obvious to us.
Nowadays, most parents have to work, whether they work from home as home executives or full time in a high profile job. Not often do you find a parent who can be a full time caregiver, stimulator, teacher etc. We know that almost every parent shares a common desire to do what is best for their children. At Toptots, you will enjoy the opportunity to discuss common concerns and current trends with other parents. Your child will be given the opportunity to interact with children of the same age and you will learn a great deal about how children learn and develop their all important social skills.
Music - Fundamental to the development of the child
Music is a wonderful medium that stimulates more than just fundamental learning. It is a pleasurable way for children to express themselves. Music is creative energy captured in sound that allows children to cope with the environment around them. There are so many physical, emotional and external changes taking place in a toddler's life. Music helps children to understand and express their feelings towards this environment - especially when words are not available to do so. At Toptots your child will be given plenty of opportunity to explore this area of development as well as developing their sense of beat, rhythm, tone and tempo.
